Sinful Dark Chocolate Brownies

It is 11:00 p.m. and my sweet tooth craving is kicking in. What is a girl to do? Make brownies of course! But not just any type of brownie. I am talking about a sinful brownie that melts in your mouth and tastes better than...dare I say it...boxed brownies! I got my recipe from Very Best Baking that has all types of delicious creations on their site.

Let's get baking!

Ingredients:
  • 1 2/3 cups (10-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Dark Chocolate Morsels, divided
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) I didn't put nuts in this recipe

Directions

Preheat oven to 325º F. Grease 8-inch-square baking pan (With the joys of apartment living I only had a 9 inch cake pan so I made do with that). Set aside 1/3 cup morsels.

Heat 1 1/3 cups morsels, sugar, butter and water in saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate, butter and sugar are melted.

Pour into medium bowl.

Stir in eggs, one at a time, with wire whisk until blended.

Stir in vanilla extract. Add flour and salt; stir well.

Stir in remaining 1/3 cup morsels and nuts. Pour into prepared baking pan.

I got distracted and had to take a slow motion shot of the chocolate dripping from the whisk. You will thank me later ; )

This looks like heaven in a pan!

Bake for 38 to 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out a little sticky. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

...Baked goods should have been my middle name...

Have you ever seen anything more beautiful? Check out those chocolate morsels!

My sister Caroline inspired me to bake this week. If you haven't already checked out her Vegan Bite-Size Pumpkin Brownies please do : )
