Martha's Valentine Card Making

Good ol' Martha did it again and provided some awesome tutorials for making Valentine cards that you can find here.  I made my Christmas cards last year using her Christmas card tutorials that are similar to the Valentine ones.  I think hand-made cards show the recipient how much you care for them compared to store-bought cards, plus they are easy to make and you can literally use things you already have around the house!

So, for Valentine's Day, I decided to make Martha's accordion pop out "LOVE" card using her "Accordion Love Template" that you can find here.  However, you can easily adapt her tutorials to any special occasion that deserves a card.

Materials:
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • and any other embellishments you want to add!

Step 1: Pick your paper that you want the LOVE letters to be on.

Step 2: Print out Martha's PDF "Accordion Love Template" onto the paper you want the LOVE letters to show up on.  I printed the "reverse" side of her template onto the back of the paper.

Step 3: Cut around the letters then fold along the dotted lines.

Step 4: Pick your paper that you will use for the card.  Measure your card that you will use as a base and situate your letters to ensure that the card is the right size.

Step 5: Glue your letters to the card so that the "O" and "V" fold are centered in the fold of the card.

Step 6: Add any other embellishments you wish!  I added punch-out letters to make the inside say "I love you".  Decorate the front of the card any way you wish.  I added more punch out letters that said "Babe" to the front and tied the fold of the card with some jute.

This was so fun to make and I think the boy will love it!  Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day!

  2. Cute! I like homemade cards so much better than store-bought ones (the prices are outrageous to me) but I've never attempted a pop-up card. Have a great weekend!
