I'm not a hairstylist and I don't always love spending the time to do my hair. I like quick and easy. But with Valentine's Day just around the corner there is always time to make yourself look extra special for a night out with your boyfriend, hubby, significant other...etc...etc. All you need for this tutorial is a flat iron and hair spray. That's it! The look that we are shooting for is a sexy messy curl.
Step 1: Break your hair up into three sections with clips. The bottom, middle and top layer.
Step 2: In each layer take a small section of hair (about an inch and a half as shown below).
Step 4: Twist the flat iron in a clockwise direction keeping it clamped and gradually pulling down.
Note: For the front pieces I twist the flat iron in a counterclockwise direction (this is so the curls are swept away from the face).
Step 5: Spray hair with hairspray. Depending on what the texture of your hair is like you might need more hairspray or you might need less. For example, finer hair is going to need a stronger hold hairspray (try Tresseme's Tres Two Extra Hold Hair Spray). It might even be beneficial to not wash your hair the day you are planning on curling it. Dirty hair tends to work better when doing a formal style. I use Tresseme's Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray.
Step 6: Tousle hair with hands to loosen up the curls. We don't want to look like Shirley Temple now do we?
...and Voila! You have yourself some sexy, curled tousled hair!
Have fun getting ready for Valentine's Day everyone! And enjoy a romantic night! Muah!

Hello Karianne! So glad you came to visit Double the Decor. I try to convince everyone to get a Chi! With short hair I would almost go quicker when you twist your Chi (that way it is not so tight of a curl if you know what I mean) : )
DeleteHi there! I just learned how to do this recently and I LOVE how my hair looks when I curl it! After 36 years I finally feel like I have "cool" hair. LOL! Thank you so much for sharing this with us at Inspiration Friday this week and we hope to be seeing lots more of you 2 gals in the future. :-)

P.S. We love sisters who blog together! ;-)
Awesome! It takes so much time to curl but it looks so nice in the end! Thank you for hosting your party! We love At The Picket Fence and love how you both blog together as well. I have to say it is quite the bonding experience : )
