Do-It-Yourself Magnets

Do-It-Yourself Magnets!

Here is a really fun project Caroline and I did....shhhhh....it was really Caroline's idea to begin with. I think this was one of the reasons that inspired both of us to get into the blogging industry!

Here is what you will need:

Clear Color Accent Gems
We found these at the Dollar Store. It is really your preference whether you want to make large or small magnets, they come in all different sizes and colors.

Clear Gel Tacky Glue
We found the Clear Gel Tacky Glue at Michael's.

Scrapbook Paper
We found the scrapbook paper set at Marshall's for a real steal. You can get really creative with this and use leftover wrapping paper, pictures etc.

White Paper (it might be a good idea to get thick white paper...not regular printer paper).

Gorilla Glue or any strong glue will suffice.

Scissors

...and Magnetic Buttons
We found these at WalMart. Sorry the image is sideways...I am having gliches with the computer at the moment.

Step 1:
Take your decorative piece of paper and stencil the Clear Color Accent Gem. Then cut out. Do this with the white piece of paper as well.

Step 2:
Take the Clear Color Accent gem and apply the Clear Gel Tacky Glue to the flat side of the gem (not too much - a little bit more than a pin drop will do).

Step 3:
Apply your circle cut out of the decorative piece of paper to the flat side of the gem smoothing out any bubbles.

Step 4:
Apply the Clear Gel Tacky Glue to the back of the decorative piece of paper (not too much). Apply the white circle cut out.

Step 5:
Apply Gorilla Glue to the back of the white backing and place Magnetic Button on back.

Step 6:
Allow to dry for at least 30 minutes. Then place on your fridge!

This is what the back side of the magnet should look like.
Have fun with this project they make great presents! And the colors and sizes are endless!
